I was gonna go off on American Gods naming the God of the Internet ‘Technical Boy’ in the upcoming miniseries – dagnabbit, I may have to stream Starz for a while – and then I realized that I didn’t remember his ‘real’ name. so I looked it up… and lo! It was, well, Technical Boy.
Clearly I need to read the book again.
I never really liked American Gods, it just didn’t speak to me. But I remember the new gods as being – Technology, Money, Fame, and Television. Technical Boy was more like a nickname. (OTOH, I lOVE the sequel)
Loved the book. It even makes my Top 10 list.

Will avoid the show like the plague.
IMO, Gaiman’s work doesn’t lend itself to show/movie adaptation. Yes, he did outstanding graphic novels, they’re not at all the same thing! (Do you really need more evidence than Stardust?) I *think* you could pull it off with narration, but for some reason that’s become unfashionable. (Insert rant about the LotR movies here.)

I can’t believe that media companies keep trying, when there are so many other authors whose stories *do* lend themselves to such adaptation. Michael Flynn and John Ringo would head my list.
Coraline… wasn’t bad. And Neverwhere I liked, although that was a BBC show first, and a novel second.
