Because it looks pretty freaking bizarre. And not just because it’s French, although that’s not hurting the surrealism level any. I’m getting a definite ‘French Revolution’ vibe off of this one, which is something that I normally do not associate with Beauty and the Beast.
And no, this is not the Disney flick. This apparently came out a couple of years ago. And the fact that I’ve never heard of it probably is significant.

This cold has been a weird one. I feel better today – all hail the regenerative power of rib-eye – but yesterday I was kind of flying.
Wow. That looks deeper than anything Disney would ever put out. I’m getting serious Pan’s Labyrinth vibes, but maybe that’s just the going Euro-style right now.
I always thought that BaTB was set in the period just prior to the Revolution, with all the “Cursed” and “Ugly” and “Cold & Heartless” royals in need of redemption-and-forgiveness-from-the-common-folk themes…

…And maybe not. But if it did take place just before, then Bella&Beasty (and their kids) were certainly killed shortly after the “…And they lived Happily Ever After. The End.”
