So they’re remaking “Are You Being Served?,” but it’s not actually horrible.

My first reaction – particularly after seeing the cast photo – was horror. They had the new cast members dressed like the original cast members were! It was… subtly unnerving.  But it turns out “[t]he one-off revival will be screened in September as part of a BBC season celebrating 60 years of the television sitcom.”  So it’s just the one episode, which means that they are almost certainly going to be doing it as an affectionate pastiche of the show and the fans will probably love it because of the over-the-top performances.  Who knows: they might even sneak in a cameo or two of the original cast, although… well, the show’s over thirty years old, so maybe not.

Anyway, no need to panic if you’re a fan of the original Are You Being Served?

  1. Considering that all the major players are dead (Even Mr. Lucas and Miss Brahms). A cameo might be hard to get,
