Wait, just how many superheroes are going to be in Infinity War?

Is this number correct?

Perfect. Squirrel Girl is in! Of course that means that the number of characters in Avengers: Infinity War just increased from 67 to 68, and Joe Russo said of his brother Anthony that he’d “die from exhaustion” if one more character was added to the film.

I would imagine so. Look, I’d love to see a Squirrel Girl movie, obviously – I’m fond of the character – but that’s a heck of a lot of capes that are going to be in that film as it is.  Maybe they could let just her show up in the Luke Cage series?  I mean, Squirrel Girl is the nanny for Luke and Jessica Jones’ kid.

  1. Character bloat on steroids. Civil War was already over filled with characters. What is going to happen? Is a hero going to show up , say 1 line and then disappear in background for rest of movie?

  2. One of the reasons the Avengers have worked so far is it’s a group big enough to believe it does the job. But small enough so that you can see everyone get time in the sun. It sounds to me like Avengers is going the way of the X-Men series, with drive-by characters who don’t contribute more than a scene another could have done just as well.

  3. I am kind of split on this. It sounds like waaaaay too many characters. On the other hand the Infinity Gauntlet story in the comics had a huge cast.

68 seems a bit much. Maybe 40 characters too much.
