Green Lantern Corps: “Imagine Lethal Weapon… IN SPACE!”

That’s not a joke: Deadline literally wrote “The new version[*] is described as Lethal Weapon in space, and it’s based on a comic book origin story.” Yes. You’re bemused. Full Frontal Nerdity is bemused. The Onion A.V. Club is bemused, when they’re not gleefully imagining all the Green Lantern Corps jokes that are going to crop up in the Deadpool sequel.  Personally, I hope that Ryan Reynolds does get approached for this film, and that he does accept it.  The result would be as exciting and dynamic as an explosion in a fireworks factory.

…Hold on. That’s not sarcasm, actually. You ever watch an explosion in a fireworks factory? Assuming that everybody gets out in time, it’s a fascinating thing to observe.

*I’m not exactly sure why Green Lantern Corps is being described as a new version, either.

  1. Hence the reason the finale of Revenge of the Pink Panther was a fire in a fireworks warehouse, started by Inspector Clouseau, of course.
