This is sad news:
Game designer Loren Wiseman has passed. He was known for his work on Twilight 2000 among many many other credits. ๐

I’m familiar with him from both GURPS Traveller and Twilight 2000: I may even still have his T2000 adventure Going Home around here somewhere, although I sent off a lot of my older gaming stuff to Iraqย a while back to help out a RPG convention that needed games for the troops. My condolences and good wishes to his family and loved ones.
Oh, blast it.
.
I started roleplaying with D&D back in the day, but Traveller, that was the first RPG that I loved. I devoured the background. The first issue of Space Gamer I bought was because it had Traveller on the cover. It was a big chunk of my early days. RIP, Loren.
Oh, man… I think I have everything GDW published of his. I even corresponded with him back in the early 90’s, asking whom I would talk to at GDW if I wanted to make a computer adaptation of one of GDW’s war games. ๐
Twilight 2000 was as big as D&D when and where I was growing up.
Same here. I lost track of how many T2k campaigns I ran, but it was enough that my two main players had entire families deployed throughout Poland, and the families had formed rivalries.
Just saw my T2000 from@1991 on the shelf in the basement the other day. I’ll have to pull it down.
Damn it.
RIP, Mr. Wiseman, and thanks.
