I haven’t really played the game myself, but, well, Battletech. Gamers all at least know about Battletech, which makes this Bundle of Holding primo nostalgia-bait. And, for those wondering whether the Battletech Video Game was ever going to show up… the Beta release is March 15th. So if that’s your thing, the time is coming to, I dunno, ‘mech up? As I said, I haven’t really played the game, so I don’t know the slang.

Here’s the thing…the stuff would be more useful for the BattleTech RPG than the BattleTech game. I don’t recall that there was any slang for actually getting into your Mech. But the slang would have something to do with 1) Your House (There were Five – Davion, Kurita, Steiner, Liao and Marik) and 2) the Inner Sphere. I myself was affiliated with House Steiner.
BattleTech was first called Battle Droids, but George Lucas took issue with that title, and so it got changed to BattleTech. It was a tabletop war simulation, and one of the most fun games I ever had the privilege to play. It’s something I would happily play tonight if I had the players to do it.
Later BattleTech versions featured the Clans, which came from outside the Inner Sphere and messed everything up. The RPG is – you guessed it- an RPG set in the BattleTech universe.
That was probably too much information. I apologize. My inner nerd escaped. I am under control again.
Dude. It’s cool. There’s probably three, four people muttering ‘Right on! – Except for the House, of course.’
Pretty much. 😉 House Steiner is full on karma Houdini. Everyone else loves to hate them, and they richly deserve it.
