You know it’s gonna be good when it’s called “The Orangutan Story.” Look, I can’t even quote this one without spoiling it — OK, it’s not going to actually spoil it. But if ever there was a story that deserved to be not skipped ahead until the end, it’s this one. This is the kind of story that people used to use in order to get invited to dinner parties.

PS: Speaking as an English major myself; there’s no point in trying to determine which of the two theories is ‘right;’ I personally don’t think that either is, honestly. It’s the situation that’s epic, not the conflict.

Academic arguments always bring to mind Lee & Miller’s “Crystal Dragon” .. which, unfortunately, makes limited sense as a stand-alone novel.

That said .. it involves academics defending their papers .. with blood and steel.

I have never once given a single thought to Poe’s social or political views, I just read the stories for entertainment.
And according to folks on a certain side of literature, you were reading it incorrectly.

There is a reason I hold Film and Literature Majors in contempt for the most part.
Moe- this kind of post is why I just love you to pieces!
