I’ve been meaning to read Mira Grant’s Into the Drowning Deep for some time, but I absolutely goram refused to pay the jacked-up price for the e-book that Hatchette Book Group wanted. I don’t really care how tough it is for the print publishing industry right now: I’m not interested in paying for all the hardcovers that don’t sell. It’s not like they’re making cancer drugs or something, is it?
But today the price has been reduced to $2.99, which is more than fair. I’ll pay ten bucks for the e-book version of a hardcover, sure. But it’s a one-day sale, so grab it while you can if you want a horror novel which is apparently about vicious mermaids. And who among us would not*?
Moe Lane
*What? Sure, OK, if it isn’t your cup of tea then it isn’t. No worries, neighbor: no worries.
Sort of off topic, but I finally managed to wrestle Tim Powers’ Declare away from my relatives and read it.
Superb, but then I’ve liked every book of his that I’ve read since the Drawing of the Dark came out at the end of the 70’s.
Maybe I’ll take a look at Mira Grant next. Predatory mermaids sounds interesting.
Wasn’t it, though? It would make a superb RPG background for Night’s Black Agents if you mixed it in with Stress of Her Regard somehow.
Night’s Black Agents?
Oh, I like that!
