Straight from the director:
So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can't wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!! @GalGadot pic.twitter.com/Gn0jICiIAH

Kirsten Wiig as Cheetah is interesting, but not as interesting as Cheetah in a DCEU movie. The character seems like it could be somewhat… ah, exploitative (cat-girl running around wearing nothing but fur, after all). Of course, Patty Jenkins at this point can do whatever she danged well wants with Wonder Woman 2: they’re paying her 7-9 million plus part of the backend for directing that movie*. With that kind of money comes a certain amount of artistic freedom. And hopefully more of the classy, athletic pinup cheesecake that made Wonder Woman so enjoyable to healthy males everywhere.
Note: Jenkins could still screw it up. History is full of directors who shouldn’t have tried to go back to a specific well. But I’m curious to see how Jenkins and Wiig present the character.

*Warner Bros. reportedly didn’t want to spend that kind of money, either. They just didn’t have a choice. It’s always nice when somebody takes my advice, although I will readily concede that squeeze the SOBs until their eyes pop was a fairly obvious strategy.
