OK, so the allusion doesn’t quite work. Gimme a break:
Fallout: New California project leader Brandan Lee provided an update on the prequel mod on Mod DB last week, saying that the Beta 200 is fully playable from start to finish and they are nearing the final stages of completion.
“So after many years, not only is BETA 200 playable from start to end credits with no major interruptions but it’s stable and finally coming together as a finished thing. We still have bugs, and we still have defects, but it’s approaching a level of polish you’d expect from a release ready product most of the time.”
They’re estimating that this mod will be equal to about a quarter’s worth of a full game’s play, which is massive for a mod. Of course, they’ve been working on it since Fallout: New Vegas came out in 2010. I don’t like to argue over whether Fallout 4 was better than New Vegas, or vice versa; different games, different styles, and both games have unique strengths. But I’ll absolutely download New California when it finally comes out. I figure that it’ll be a blast. As will Fallout 4’s Cascadia mod, if and when it ever comes out…
