Jirel of Joiry is a collection of C.L. Moore’s pulp fantasy historical-supernatural stories about, well, Jirel of Joiry. Moore was one of the first women to do speculative fiction, and I picked this one up because I haven’t actually read much of her fantasy (her pulp SF hero Northwest Smith was more my speed). Never hurts to revisit the classics, hey?

Classics indeed.
Excellent choice; C.L.Moore is one of the greats of SF/F. A contemporary of Robert E. Howard, she was a key influence on a great many authors who came after her, including Fritz Leiber, Andre Norton and Leigh Brackett, who was a close friend.
I understand that Moore and Jirel of Joiry are unknown to most readers of modern fantasy. Thanks for shining a light on an author and a heroine who should be better known.
