I’m not gonna lie: I rolled my eyes at a couple of places. Too start off with: we may live in a grievously fallen world, but people actually do remember who Robert the Bruce was, so ‘the untold true story’ is a bit much. Also: I’m not denying that the various monarchs of the British Isles were and are often a good deal easier to stomach than their Continental equivalents, but I will not go so far as to say that they really identified with the peasantry over which they ruled*. And everybody’s remarkably clean.
Probably will still watch it, though. Sort of obliged, what with the SCA thing, and all. Besides, seeing Chris Pine mangle a Scottish accent should entertain.
*Except for the Elizabeths. George VI, too, although there was probably no way for him to avoid that. Victoria made a good-faith effort.
