Happy π Day!

Sure, π Day is one of those weird little holidays that you only get on the Internet now that the Internet is a thing, but still. A lot of people like to make puns about pies today. I like pies.

Heck, I have a pie crust left over. Suggestions? Bear in mind that if it’s a sweet pie, I’ll have to eat it all by myself. Which is more of a problem than it was twenty years ago, when I had a metabolism with more than one setting.

  1. It’s really hard to go wrong with an apple pie, and .. all the apples currently in the stores are gettin’ a bit .. better eaten unseen, if you will.

The key question is .. what group near you would you like to share it with?

  2. My suggestion would be a sausage egg and cheese pie. If it’s a normal sized crust, brown about 12 ounces of breakfast sausage, I like JimmyDean Hot. Put in crust with about a cup of shredded cheese. Whip 6 to 9 eggs with milk or I prefer heavy cream. Pour over meat and cheese, sprinkle a bit of extra cheese on top. Bake at 350 for 30 or 40 minutes, til done. Wrap the edge of the crust in foil for all but the last 10 minutes or so. Let cool, and slice. It’s good hot, and good as leftovers cold the next day.

  3. As I recall pizza counts as pie. So in theory you might be able to use that crust to make a small pan or deep dish pizza. It’s a notion I’ve toyed with for myself from time to time but haven’t yet nerved myself to try. @_@

  4. In Europe, Pi Day is July 22 (22/7).
