I don’t remember the link for it (and don’t feel like digging it up), but somewhere out there is a lengthy piece that uses incidents from ‘Downtown Abbey’ to explain how football works.
Also of note, “Fantasy sports” are just RPGs for jocks.

You didn’t miss anything. The game itself was not interesting, it was pretty well over one quarter in. And it’s been years since the commercials have been even vaguely interesting.
