I never read the JUPITER’S LEGACY comic, but Mark Millar… seems all right as a person. I was gonna say something mean, like ‘for a comic book artist,’ but that’s uncalled-for. Who the hell am I to judge? I write fantasy novels!

Frankly, I have had a cautious take when it comes to Mr. Millar. He had the capacity to spin a good tale, certainly. But his take on what makes a good hero is sometimes not to my liking.
There were elements from his Superman: Red Son that originally put me off, and now I see echoes of them in his other stories.
Eh, I dunno. Millar seems to be another whose sole focus is to ‘deconstruct’ super heroes. The thing is: the classics are ideals. I saw something on youtube about… Immortal(?) where a Superman analog is a right bastard who easily kills the Justice League analog in gruesome fashion, destroys planets with ease, etc. Essentially a different iteration of Homelander (although they may have done a Darth Vader thing with the guy from Immortal, which… could be interesting.)
The thing about it is, while this might be edgy, it misses the point of Superman. We know what 999,999,999 people out of 1,000,000,000 would be like with those powers. Superman is the one. That is what makes it captivating.
Oops, Invincible was the name of the other series.
Which is airing on Prime right now.
The thing about Invincible is that the protagonist isn’t the guy you described – Omniman. The protagonist is his *son*, who *is* the guy trying to be Superman. I’m not sure how it all works out over time, as I haven’t read the comic book. But based on the first three episodes of the series, it’s clear that the son definitely wants to be a hero in the vein of someone like Superman.
Fair points, but I do like the movies they make out of his comic books.
