I watched a lot of trailers today. It was that kind of day. But this latest trailer for BLOOD RED SKY doesn’t look half bad. It’d be even more interesting if she wasn’t an actual vampire: just a regular mom who maybe shouldn’t be taking flights…

I’ll watch Vamps on a plane over Snakes on a plane any day.
I’m trying to decide whether I should blame the Boomers or the Millennials for U2 not prominently appearing in the trailer.

There’s a darned good story in the concept, but there’s every indication that they’re running away from it as quickly as possible.
At base, the myth of the vampire* is about fear of contagion. It’s insidious by nature. And being trapped on an airplane with one has all sorts of angles.
Splatterschtick monster vs. terrorists isn’t one of them.
(Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind a vampire and terrorist group in the same work with a Blue Oni/Red Oni dynamic. But there concept seems very difficult to cram into two hours.)
*Mostly. Generalizations about the unquiet dead require almost as many caveats as the fair folk. When there’s not direct overlap between the two.
Why not blame both?
