Okay, THE SEA BEAST scratches some itches.
In short: it has sea monsters, features ships with cannons, is located in a fantasy world, and is not immediately obviously being played for laughs. I’m curious to see what the full trailer will look like. I wouldn’t mind an animated monster-hunting movie at all, precocious kid or no.
Does look like fun, but I get a “How to train your dragon” vibe off of it – i.e., the sea beasts aren’t really bad, they’re just dealing with their own issues and we should just learn to coexist.

Tried Sea of Thieves last week. Came away with the conviction that it would be a really cool game, if it weren’t for the other players.
There were a whole lot of toxic squeakers. (At least some of which are surprisingly inept at the game. I’m just saying, if you catch me in a 2 v 1 ambush when I have a negative modifier on my movement from being in the water, and I’ve got less than 10 hours in the game, I should not win. Much less win with half my healthbar left.)
