Warner Bros is being ruthless about the DCEU.

Amusingly, this Tweet…

…refers to one bit of an article that’s almost entirely about what’s going on with the Batgirl movie, which should give you some idea about why they axed the Batgirl movie. Reading between the lines? BATGIRL was a streaming movie that won’t be able to make the leap to the big screen without a lot more work, and the test audience didn’t love it enough to make that work cost-effective. 2022 ain’t 2020. It’s certainly not 2019. Running the numbers means something again.

I have other opinions, but one sour beer isn’t enough to get me to unlock them. Sorry…

  1. More to the point was the Batgirl movie retiring Batman and Superman, with Batgirl and Supergirl replacing them going forward in the streaming DCU.

The new executive is not insane.
    The fired executives were.
Eating the sunk costs is better than sinking the franchise.

Eh, Barbra Gordon was much more interesting as Oracle than she was as Batgirl, anyway.

    1. Well then you’ll be happy to hear that The CW, not yet financially bereft, has a Gotham Knights show! It looks… I need a new word for beyond terrible. Ah! Phrase rather than word. It looks like what “Batgirl” would have been.

      1. Yeah… the wikipedia page doesn’t tell you much, but the cast list includes 4 b-list female superheroes drawn from various sources, 3 pretty boys playing previously unknown or extremely minor characters who appear to be variously entangled and Harvey Dent. Nothing is *guaranteed*, of course, but….

Well, I hope that those who it is written for enjoy it… and that they don’t trowel on The Message *too* badly.
