I didn’t watch the trial itself, so I have no urge to see HOT TAKE: THE DEPP/HEARD TRIAL. But the problem with this movie isn’t that it’s exploitative. It’s that it’s not exploitative enough. What they should have done in this movie is gotten Johnny Depp and Amber Heard to play themselves.
…Yes, I’m making light of the entire tawdry affair. Then again, so is this movie.
Depp wanted to be done with the whole thing and more power to him.
Yeahhh… that was my thought. I mean, you’re not wrong. It would have added some excellence to the movie… or if you wanted *real* farce, then put the makeup departments to work and have Depp playing as Heard while Heard plays as Depp (at least as an out-take).
By my read, though, he didn’t want to have to even be in the same room with her ever again if he didn’t have to. He didn’t want to have to suck down the psychological cost of it. I support him in that.
