And I just don’t mean the Stuff We Don’t Talk About Here. Some weeks, people just don’t seem to have fun about anything. This is apparently one of those weeks.
So, I dunno. Tell me about cool stuff. I got some Cool Stuff coming in the mail, but it isn’t here yet. It is definitely Cool, though. Trust me on this.
Deep Rock Galactic is starting season three. (Now on PC, next week for consoles.)
I have all sorts of negative things to say about season passes in video games, but none of it applies here.
The season pass is free. Completely. Free.
It’s geared so that a casual player can comfortably finish it. (The company is strongly on record that a game should never be a second job.)
At the end of the season, everything goes into the loot pool. (And you’ll never draw something from the loot pool you already have. Plus, it’s really a really big pool.)
They do have an associated DLC cosmetic bundle that you can buy if you’d like to throw a few bucks their way in appreciation, but the stuff in it isn’t “better” than what you earn, and there’s no pressure from the community to demonstrate that you’ve kicked in.
And it’s on GamePass.
I kinda thought it was just me being unable to get away from topics-which-shall-not-be-named. Good to know.

Star Trek: Lower Decks is rather fun, if you haven’t checked that out, yet. I watched the third season of Star Trek: Lower Decks, last weekend. That show’s a lot of fun, if you haven’t seen it (and if you like refs to the Animate Series, you will find several). Also spent some time this week watching ST: Strange New Worlds, which was honestly better than I expected (but reports have generally led me to have very low expectations regarding Trek series, post-Abrams movies).

There’s a really rather nice version of G1 Ironhide out at Target, if plastic robots are your sort of thing and it fits into your budget for personal indulgences. It’s a little bit short on accessories and paint apps, but it does look nice, all the same.
Just got to see family I haven’t seen since Before Times. It was great. Young peoples’ energy is amazing, though it does cause antecedent tiring effects on older folks.
