This is Cool Watch: Howard County, MD is advertising for a ‘Dungeon and Dragon Instructor Youth Programs’ position.

Up to $21/hour, too.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Howard County Recreation and Parks is seeking an instructor to teach participants how to play Dungeon & Dragon. Previous experience in teaching or leading youth activities is required. Selected individuals must have patience, be flexible and have an overall positive attitude. Must feel comfortable working with individuals with disabilities.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and reliable transportation is mandatory.

Before you ask: I don’t have the formal experience required in working with eleven-year-old kids (who aren’t mine). It sounds like a fun gig, but somebody with both D&D and an educational background is gonna snap it up, alas. Still: I’m tickled pink to see that TTRPGs have definitely gone respectable.

  1. One of the things tabletop RPGs enable is letting kids with social development issues try out ideas and see how they work.. ‘s similar to some forms of therapy recommended for mildly autistic kids.

    Glad to see this.

  2. Which raises only two questions –
Are YOU in Howard county, and do you have a room to rent?
