I’ve never seen the original special. Which I believe is the point, really. Some people have gone through a lot of trouble to keep us all in this placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity. But A DISTURBANCE IN THE FORCE: HOW THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL HAPPENED promises to finally make us flee into the peace and safety of a new dark age:
I particularly like the names of the people they’re getting to talk about it, too.
The doc is directed by Jeremy Coon and Steve Kozak, and you can expect to see Seth Green, Weird Al Yankovic, Taran Killam, Gilbert Gottfried, Bonnie Burton, Paul Scheer, Bruce Vilanch, Lenny Ripps, Donny Osmond, and Miki Herman help tell the story.
Those are good names. Those are people who I want to hear talk about the Star Wars Holiday Special, because you need a Weird Al to help you understand insanity.
Gilbert Gottfried? They’ve been working on this for a while.
It seems… almost fitting that something like this should be his final work.
Weird Al … a national treasure, the greatest paladin rock accordionist, the one who Michael Jackson parodied**…
I hope he’s stoic enough for “What Can You Get a Wookie for Christmas (When He Already Owns a Comb?)” ….
Mew
** it’s in the semiautobiographical film, aight?
I want to see this vastly more than I do anything else Star Wars related. How they appeased the Lucas into getting this made is anyone’s guess!
Lucas no longer has anything to say about it. Disney bought *all* the rights.
