I find the concept of GRAN TURISMO (what happens when you put the best video game race car driver in the world in an actual race car?) surprisingly interesting. I assume it’s because the answer isn’t He immediately wins it all, which the movie makes clear. It’s also a film where the reality is close enough to the movie to make the latter reasonably accurate. I don’t mind tall tales (I watched COCAINE BEAR, after all), but a more-or-less true story has its appeal.
