The author started writing in the Mid 90’s, he’s strung out a half dozen sequels and some spinoffs as well as novels in other genres since then, unfortunately they’ve gotten progressively worse over time. He seems to get three or four set pieces in mind and then spends the rest of the book recapping previous volumes or plugging some quack medicine.
My favorite part is in the 2nd book where (spoilers for a 25 year old novel ahead)
Has Pat Burrell of the Phillies hit a home run to break Hank Aarons career record into the water in San Francisco so shark scenes can occur.
Pat Burrell’s career….didn’t reach such heights.
