More ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL film*s*. Note plural.

Constant Reader acat alerted us earlier that more than one ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL sequels are apparently being worked on. Via ScreenRant, the quote being passed around, right out of James Cameron’s mouth: ““And on Avatar, I’m working in Wellington and Los Angeles. And on the new Alita: Battle Angel films, I’ll be working in Austin, so it just didn’t make sense for us anymore.”

This is, I think, solid enough to run with. James Cameron wants to make these movies. James Cameron’s AVATAR 2: THE WAY OF WATER grossed 2.32 billion dollars. James Cameron gets to do whatever he wants as long as he makes that kind of bank, and that’s just fine with me. As I said last month:

It’s always nice when things work out this well for me.

  1. The man knows what he wants to make with a certain clarity: Doesn’t need to be next Epic Legend, just a really neat Wondrous Spectacle.

Given the overwrought arrogance from…. other parties, such basic Shiny™ appeal is refreshing.

  2. That’s Constant Annoyance acat… and I figured you’d like this news.

I .. really should get around to seeing Alita ..

    1. It’s on Hulu.
Personally, I can’t get past the Uncanny Valley aspect. Every time I see that particular CGI, I have a deep-seated urge to hit it with a stick. (And my television wouldn’t like that very much.)
