I’m kind of liking this proposed title better.

For a second, Janelle almost revered back into Cartwright in Norm’s head — but then she nodded. “I’m taking David’s gun,” she told him.
“Good. Just remember; we ain’t in civilization right now. Don’t trust anybody until you see ‘em shoot a cultist. And don’t let anybody take your piece away from you. If they know what they’re doing, they won’t even try.”
“Got it.” Janelle paused. “Are you going to be all right?”
“Oh, Hell no,” Norm replied as he stood, and checked his reloads. “I’m probably gonna get got. But I’m gonna have a lot of fun, first.”
“revered back” might be better as “reversed back”.
