Once again I am calling upon people to get to the point in their Kickstarter videos.

If it takes me more than thirty seconds to figure out what the hell who you are and what your Kickstarter is about, you’ve failed to communicate. I know, I know: when it comes to TTRPGs, it doesn’t matter because those always fund* anyway. But you should still quickly get to the point. It’s good for you!

PS: No, I’m not saying what the project was, because I already forgot its name, didn’t save the page, and don’t feel like looking it up. Take that as a testament to how bad the video was.

*This is actually not quite true.

  1. Guessing the TTRPG crowd (effectively) always fund because the dollars are not so big and the groups in the market for the product have a mature communication network..

… but as TTRPG is a niche (no offense, it’s a very good niche) they could easily get wider audiences involved by being a tad better at communicating.

    All of that said…

… sometimes not having a wider audience is a Good Thing.

    Mww

  2. A couple decades ago, I worked for a tech company that paid big bucks to Terry Gilliam to do an advertisement for a new service they were offering, to be shown during (major sporting event).
The zeks were over the moon, and showed us the ad. It did have the company name and the focus tested name of the service. But no indication whatsoever what the service was, or why anyone would want to use it.
(Shortly thereafter, my contract was not extended,)
