Alas, I decided that the multi-layered irony involved in picking that one was too dependent on the history of the Confederate States of America, the career of Jefferson Davis, and the pernicious influence of Sir Walter Scott on nineteenth century American rhetoric. I’m starting to think that the Sane People have some kind of deep operative inside of Disney. There’s no way that anyone with an ounce of sense would make this movie with the intention of making money. It’s the business equivalent of leaping off a twelve-story building. This has to be an inside job.
This hypothetical saboteur wouldn’t even need to work hard, just give them rope and constantly say things like
