I never played Castlevania, because I never had a NES, because I was lucky to have a Commodore 64. But if this was your jam*, back in the day, then Netflix wants your attention. Apparently Warren Ellis is doing the writing, too:

The big thing about the Castlevania series is that they shamelessly reused resources. It was one of the first sidescrollers that didn’t just proceed screen left. You traversed the same levels forwards and backwards several times as you gained abilities that allowed you access areas you couldn’t before.
