Shocking, no? They’ve got a director for Doctor Strange 2 (C. Robert Cargill) and dropping heavy hints that they figured out a way for Killmonger to show up for Black Panther 2. Before anybody freaks out about that, here’s SyFy’s observation:
Another possibility could be that Killmonger will show up on the ancestral plain. He did sit on the throne of Wakanda, however briefly. The first movie brought back King T’Chaka (John Kani) this way, and he died back in Captain America: Civil War. And when you consider that it was Killmonger who inspired T’Challa to open the Wakanda’s borders to the world, it could lead to an interesting dynamic between the two characters.
SyFy, honestly, has a point there. It’d be a legit way to let Michael B. Jordan reprise the role without actually cheapening what happened in Black Panther. On the other hand, I’m assuming that Marvel-Disney does that. But on the gripping hand: I’m treating Avengers: Endgame as an artistic and thematic checkpoint. As long as the next two movies are solid, everything that happens after them shouldn’t be seen as retroactively cheapening the effect of the MCU to date. At least, to me. And especially if Kevin Feige makes a helicopter out of his pile of MONEY and flies away this year. Dude did what he came to do.
But that’s just my opinion.
