I’ve reached the point where “child actor” is pretty much synonymous with “abused child”.
And I hate Hollywood for that.
May Drew Barrymore and all the countless other damaged children find peace.
As to the original, I enjoy David Keith in most everything I see him in.
As to the remake, Blumhouse has a string of quality productions under its belt, and while it feels like they are taking some liberties with the story I’m ok with it, since surprises are good and the original was by no means such a monumental work that it can defy modification.
With the original movie they came up with the gimmicky visual of the dad holding his hands to his head when he “pushed”. That completely took me out of the movie.
It’s hard to show his power, I get it, but there must be a better way.
This is why I don’t mind so much when they remake awful movies. I respect the urge to burn the whole thing down and try again.
