You know something? It was a quiet day.

I didn’t do much, beyond a bunch of laundry and burgers on the grill. It was a peaceful, not-much-important nice day in June. I slept in. Oh, and I installed Bioshock 2, just to see what it was like. They don’t have to all be eventual days.

  1. Right.
Want some recommendations to wash the bad taste out of your mouth afterwards?

I’ve defended a lot of bad games over the years, from Anthem all the way back around to Alpha Protocol.
But you’ll never hear me defend Bioshock 2.
It’s like someone played Bioshock, and liked the combat, but wanted to cut out all that exploration, narrative, verisimilitude, and choice stuff.
I think it’s the only game I’ve ever actually hated.
(Heck, I can even find a kind word to say about Dragon Age: Origins. It’s got a great setting, decent characters, and a decent story. It would probably be fun to play on a PC. But I n console, it’s one long, painful, interface screw.)

  2. Speaking of video games, did anyone else watch the XBox Bethesda show today?

My youngest almost vibrated off the couch in excitement over Starfield. (I had to give the “It’s probably going to be really cool, but there’s no way it can compete with what you’re imagining” lecture.)

(And when a 13 year old thinks Forza is jumping the shark with Hot Wheels Horizon, you’ve gone way too far.)

      1. Be the “ultra realistic” franchise?
The fluorescent tracks and over-the-top cars clashed pretty hard with the Forza identity.

It looked reminiscent of Extreme-G. (Which was super cool, but pretty much the exact opposite of Forza.)
