I somehow managed to get the manuscript for BANSHEE BEACH up to 50,000 words on the nose. I assume that I did that deliberately, because last year I had an unexpected case of Covid for Thanksgiving and it messed up my entire ‘thing.’ But that’s okay. I have enough to construct the rest of the book.

Having reviewed the manuscript*, I think I’m going to set myself the goal this month of creating an outline of the remaining plot, and do a sensible amount of wordcount. Then I can take up the rest in December, after NaNoWriMo. I absolutely need to get a workable manuscript ready earlier if I want to publish a novel in 2024. Besides, it’s good to have goals.

*Speed-reading is my mutant power, basically. My reading speed is something like twice that of an unmodified human**, with full retention of details. I’ve never been trained in it, either. And yes, it is an awesome mutant power to have. My only problem is that sometimes I forget that other people can’t do this.
**Faster if I’m just reading for fun and not, say, looking for typos or breaks in the narrative.
