The student isn’t even trying to start some stuff. They’re teaching students now to pay attention to how old a source is before they use it, which is actually the right thing to do. So is asking for clarification before the paper is due. It’s just the way the kid innocently described the source in question that wounds me so.

Props to the kid for being respectful. I think much of the problem with “These darned disrespectful kids” is more adults refuse to be respectable…. If you can embrace the Honored Elder role, God bless you.

I recall deliberately seeking out old sources for their lack of obsession with race/sex/class BS.
I mean if he said “late 20th Century” sure, but “late 1900’s” would be through 1909… 🙂
