    Just because they built it, doesn’t mean it works well.
    The tech is cool, and has gotten much better, but it’s still way deep in the uncanny valley.

    And something “Not Human” talking to you tends to set off all sorts of atavistic emotional responses.

  2. Indeed – the conformity and consistency of auto-generated voices makes them inherently unbelievable. Perfect Pronunciation Provided at a Predictable Pace (like every damned telephone menu) only induces rage.
