Greta Gerwig: Greta YES
My only hope here is that Gerwig loved the Narnia books as much as she did LITTLE WOMEN, growing up. If she did, the movies might actually be… :gingerly, one eye screwed shut, shoulders in an involuntary half-cringe: …maybe okay? Not that I would blame people for betting the other way.
In the meantime, check out some of the comments to that post. There is hootage going on there.

My bet is on this being the cinematic equivalent of what happens when a sweaty, 400 pound man who lives on a steady diet of Taco Bell visits an outhouse at the County Fair on the hottest day in July.
And my bet is also that Mr. Tumnus performs a rap song.
Actually, time spent listening to Calliope Mori’s songs have guaranteed that I’d be open minded about any rap songs that were done in the spirit of what C.S. Lewis intended. Especially since I had the good fortune to stumble across an interesting Dr. Seuss rap by a different singer. 🙂

Yeah, “it’s a very new take” is a tell. And what it’s telling me is to stay far, far away.
That was definitely a red flag but not necessarily a doom flag. “It’s all about rock and roll” took things out of red flag territory and into the doom flag realm as far I’m concerned though. That said, Moe’s right. If Miss Gerwig did right by Little Women then there’s a sporting chance she’ll do right by Narnia as well. 🙂
*knocks on wood* 😓
People keep trying, and failing, to adapt The Lion The With and The Wardrobe to the big screen.
Making a Rock Opera Musical isn’t going to fix that losing streak.
Most of The Chronicles of Narnia aren’t very suited to adaptation.
I think the best option would be The Silver Chair. It wouldn’t require a huge budget to film, either.
