Spoiler: they $:;$ed it up.
The still shot trying to get me to watch the trailer screams “did not understand the assignment”. From the depressive blue filter, to the expression on Superman’s face when in the middle of the crowd, it’s clear that The Big Blue Boyscout is not grokked.
Bright colors, confident and smiling, reassuring everyone with his presence. THAT is Superman. And that’s the exact opposite of what we’re getting.
Ok, there are some good beats that seem like OG Supes and the casting looks solid.
I’m…. not sold on having the Justice Society so prominent. Maybe it’s because they had a shot with Shazam 2 but fumbled the play.
On the other Kryptonite, Gunn is proven good at getting established characters into a script without a lot of extra exposition. (GOTG and The Suicide Squad)
I am hearing some things about Creature Commandos that have me hesitant to be fully enthusiastic. I still remember how I felt after Justice League in theaters.
