I just realized… these kinds of songs are pretty whiny, huh? Frankly, twenty years ago I was flat broke and women wouldn’t talk to me. I mean, I still had fun and everything… but damn but was I dumb, sometimes.

Summer of 1969 was more than 40 years ago, Moe. I was in high school and pretty sure that things would get better when I got to college, but of course it still hurt when none of the cool girls would talk to me.
It did get better, though. 🙂

.
Here’s how to do 60’s nostalgia right: ZZ Top, “Heard it on the X”. http://youtu.be/tSIwVFxk0jA
This may sound rich coming from a 25 year old…but damn, the Baby Boomers were a self-absorbed lot! The sheer narcissism of this song is truly profound.
There’s a species of humanity that I’ve always referred to as “peaked in high school.” We who didn’t hated them then. For a deeper study, see John Cougar Mellencamp. But I think Mellencamp does the sentiment better.
I always think of South Park–Canadians: “We have apologized for Bryan Adams many times.”
