(Via Hot Air Headlines) Mitt Romney:
“Governor might have been a better job for [Barack Obama] to have started with,” Romney joked.
“I say that because I actually think you learn from experience. I think it helps to have been in business before you actually start to run something in government. And then after you’ve done something in government, it helps to start perhaps a little lower level before you become president,” he added.
Obviously Romney’s going to bring up ‘business:’ you can swap it out for ‘military service’ (prior to 2008, the Democrats argued that you could swap it out for ‘community service’ and it didn’t sound completely laughable). The point is, the last four years have shown what can happen when you accelerate the political promotion process beyond all reason, or sanity. Make no mistake: if Barack Obama had turned out to be a natural leader, politician, and statesman, the Democrats would be looking like geniuses right now. Since he’s, well, Barack Obama, this election’s currently is Romney’s to lose.
The funny bit is, the Democrats themselves were the ones that created the absurdly high expectations that President Obama has so far so spectacularly failed to reach. So they can’t even complain about that. They still will, of course.

We’ll never elect a sitting US Senator (who has also never been a Governor) again.
Come out to the coast, we’ll get together, have a few laughs!
Now I have a machine gun
Ho ho ho
The Dems had a thing for nominating Senators (Gore, Kerry, Obama) in part because the stable of good governors wasn’t there … gotta run somebody.
