Imagine our shock.
If you don’t have time to read this letter from Rep. Joe Barton, or watch the video below:
…let me summarize:
- In April of 2009 the EPA declared that “that greenhouse gases contribute to air pollution that may endanger public health or welfare.” The list of gases includes CO2.
- This could potentially “allow the EPA to regulate carbon dioxide under the Clean Air Act.” The administration is well aware of just how badly this would go over, which is why they tried to downplay it.
- However, it turns out that back in March of 2009 someone in the EPA itself tried to get new information that might affect the finding’s results… and was shut down cold, and was blithely told that political considerations were involved.
- Rep. Barton – and other Republicans on the House Energy Committee – would like further details on that situation, and how it might relate to the EPA’s actions in general. To put it mildly.
I know that my advice might seem suspect to Congressional Democrats, but really: this would be probably a lot less of an issue if the current majority party wasn’t so determined to rush pell-mell into a radical new energy policy. Just saying.
