This is a thing that is happening.

It should not be happening.

PS: If you run in this year’s NY Marathon then shame on you.
I really hope that a couple of high profile runners, who have previously committed to run, publically pull out of the marathon.
This is what you get when you elect people to office who believe the purpose of government is to promote THEM. People who think that “keeping the lights on” is automatic, and their primary effort should be to bring perfection to the world.

Bloomberg — who is far from unique in this characteristic — cannot comprehend that civilization requires maintenance. He cannot understand why his time in the spotlight has to be interrupted so that people may live.
Originally I thought Obama might get a bounce from Sandy but NYC is getting ugly fast.
Spegen I see Ras average had Obama and Romney tied today, while Romney was up two yesterday. I didn’t expect a bounce, but he may have the start of one. A bit nervous with the timing.
earlgrey — Welcome to the final hours of “Operation Demoralize”. Remember — polls are lies told with numbers.
Word coming in of runners who are going to SI to help rather than run the marathon.

I don’t get it. I lived in upstate SC when Hugo hit Charleston in ’89. Our area of the state had 5 truck trailers full of supplies and ready to go by the time the storm hit land. Is it just a North/South thing? Bible-belt thing? Has our nation changed that much in 20 years? Either way, it’s time to stop depending so much on government and bureaucracies that claim to be charitable organizations.
Just spoke with my sister running in a marathon (not NYC) this weekend. Her race has seen a surge in registration in the past few days suggesting that some runners from NYC are finding other events.
