Little Boxes, Walk Off The Earth
I know that I’m not supposed to like this; but, crap, everybody reading this is just as much part of the counter-culture as the band is, right? …No, really. There’s no such thing as counter-culture, actually. In fact, it only looks like there’s a monolithic culture for people to counter from the outside. From the inside it’s pretty much ‘weirdos pretending to fit in with everybody else’ all the way down.
I don’t know if that’s wisdom, or just me projecting my own weirdo status on everybody else. Assuming that there’s a difference.
Whenever this song is played, all that I think of is Mary- Louise Parker with a cup and a straw.
You’re weird.
I’m eccentric.
I recall the old Pete Seeger and other old folkies’ versions… Not a bad song. Walk Off the Earth seems to specialize in quirky songs and does a nice job with them.
This reminds me of the Martin Mull intro to a song… “Remember the folk music scare of the 60s. That fiddle and banjo crap almost caught on.” I think that was from Martin Mull and His Fabulous Furniture In Your Living Room.
