There’s little I hate more than pointless warbling. Just sing the $$&*ing song.
The best remakes are those that strip the base song down to the bare essentials, and present them simply.
Adding excessive ornamentation to what’s already an intensively-mixed track rarely works well. And this clearly isn’t one of the exceptions.

It’s a pity. Aretha could have absolutely KILLED this song. To the extent of Johnny Cash wresting “Hurt” away from Trent Reznor.
But she didn’t.
I bought it and have to agree with Luke the whole album is so overproduced that it misses the emotion/point of the material…it could have been great.
