So, yeah, it turns out it’s trivially easy to use a non-Apple mp3 player.

Trivially easy to use. Trivially easy to transfer files. Trivially easy to SEE WHAT’S IN MEMORY ALREADY.  It was that last one that was chewing on my ankles; because God forbid that you can move things around on Apple easily.  Well, to heck with that.  The day of my liberation from the regime of Tim Cook is at hand: all I need now is for the MicroSD card to come.

  1. Beyond trivial, they just use the file management system already on the computer. If you understand the basics of file management, you can do anything you want in just a manner of seconds.
    I never understood why everyone was so high on the Apple players. iTunes is an unbelievable PITA.

    1. Simple. It does what it does, very well. It is an appliance, fire and forget. Which is what most people want. Especially after a few “Blue Screens of Death”…..

    1. Picked up a discontinued SanDisk sport player. As soon as I get the MicroSD card, I move my entire music library over and turn the iPod into the automated dice roller/Twitter reader it was clearly destined to be. Although the camera’s actually not too shabby…

      Jeebus, I can’t get away from the goram electronics, can I?

      1. Nope. Not unless you’re willing to relocate to a shack in Montana and that never ends well.

  3. Plus, the non-Apple MP3 player will not try to seize control of your computer.
