The list itself is OK, although I quibble that Captain America: The First Avenger is ranked too low. But while I agree that this is the best bit in all the films…

…I’ve always been struck by how the average in-universe German in that crowd would have had his/her mind reeling by the end of this scene. Sure, to us Captain America is this friendly, good-natured, well-liked superhero dude. To them he’s the literally living embodiment of the terrifying, inexorable war machine that roared across the Atlantic Ocean and smashed their empire into dust, and he’s back.  How many people in that crowd have ancestors whose cause of death was a simple Got in the way of Steve Rogers?

Mind you, all those dead guys had it coming, because Nazis. And HYDRA. Still, the Red Skull had a point: “Arrogance may not be a uniquely American trait: but I must say, you do it better than anyone.” Damn straight we do. Damn straight.
