Adam West was the Batman we needed — earnest, committed, not afraid to risk his life or his dignity when defending civilization — but not the Batman we deserved. He played a comedic part in an often silly* show, and it typecast him for the rest of his life; but he bore up under it well, and I have heard nary an unkind word about the man. And Adam West passed peacefully at the age of 88, with his family about him; which is not a bad ending to it. My prayers and condolences to his family and loved ones.

*Yet — just as often — better than it appeared.
Because, really, at this stage of his life, why not?
Via Blog of Much Holding, which is getting blogrolled for the name alone. Not to mention his priorities.
