…dedicated towards the goal of destroying the Trump campaign from within. I do not believe this. But I now understand why people might think that.

It’s the look that the two CNN anchors give each other that stays with me. That’s the look that you give when somebody says something that’s so far outside what you normally hear on your show that you think that it’s a weird joke or something. But it’s not a joke. He really said that.

Dr. Ben Carson is officially suspending his campaign.

We knew that this was going to happen, but Dr. Ben Carson apparently wished to end it at CPAC. I wish Dr. Carson well in his retirement; despite any differences of opinion that we might have had over his campaign strategies, he has accomplished a great deal in his remarkable life to improve the lot of humanity. More than I have, that’s for certain. I feel compelled to observe that as Dr. Carson gets on with things.

My condolences and prayers for people on the Ben Carson campaign.

Several of Ben Carson’s staffers were involved in a car accident today in Iowa; one of the staffers (Braden Joplin), unfortunately, died at the hospital. Campaigning in the wintertime always has this risk, which is of course no comfort to the bereaved. My prayers and condolences for Braden Joplin’s family and loved ones.

Dr. Ben Carson for Michigan Senate in 2014 would be a really good fit…

…but fair warning: if he does go for it (background here and here) and wins the Republican nomination, Dr. Carson should be prepared to see the Democratic party go after him hammer and tongs for his presumption in opposing whatever white guy gets the Democratic nod. And it’s going to be a white guy. White Democrats are still trying to figure out this entire “vote for a minority in statewide races” thing; and their party leadership knows that.
