Dagnabbit, I was prepared to mock National Donut Day…

…except that it’s apparently got its roots in the Salvation Army’s work in France during World War I and its efforts to help the poor in the Great Depression.  I could maybe still snark, if it was one or the other. Maybe: it’d depend on my mood. But both of those at once?  …Ain’t gonna happen. And I’d say ‘sorry,’ except that I’m, well, not.

So, go have a donut.  And maybe toss some money into the Salvation Army kitty. Those donuts aren’t free.

PS: I’m sure there’s a reason why Chrome’s spell-checker recognizes ‘donuts,’ but not ‘donut.’  :holding up hand: I didn’t say that I wanted to know the reason, thanks.
