OK, technically this is from 1977. But it just IS what I think of when I think of MTV. So it goes in the rotation.
No, really, there’s a St. Patrick’s Day connection. I was taking the kids to Mickey Dee’s to get them a Shamrock shake (which they hated, but that’s another story) and this was playing while on the way. It was an open question if the song would end before I got to the speaker. Because of course I was singing along.
When MTV got started, this video was on all the time. Which was awesome.

I don’t want to be That Guy, but I do kind of miss the days when MTV would just play stuff like this all day because they weren’t really sure what the heck they should be playing. I know, I know: that’s not really a smart business model. Also, nostalgia is a heck of a gateway drug. But still.
